COMING APRIL 13: New Fox Valley Bond-Funded College Opens

One-Of-A-Kind Facility Provides Unmatched Access to Reality-Based Hands-On Training

When Fox Valley Technical College scheduled a vote on a $66.5 million bond issue in 2012, its fate was not at all certain. True, it would be the first expansion of the college in 14 years. And the college long had close ties to its community. But times were tough. The economic recovery was sluggish. Tax cut fervor was spreading. Asking voters to borrow $66.5 million seemed like a tough sell. But nearly 70 percent of voters in Outagamie County, Wis., approved the measure, which was billed as a key workforce development measure with an emphasis on law enforcement and public safety. Now, three years later, the college is about to dedicate the centerpiece of the bond issue: a $35 million Public Safety Training Center, a sprawling complex next to an airport that brings together several specialized public safety disciplines, allowing key providers of public safety to train together. This one-of-a-kind facility provides unmatched access to reality-based hands-on training in a secure training environment.
