Summer Internship in Germany Cinches Student’s Future In Scientific Research

A dream came true this summer for Clayton Speed, a Del Mar College biotechnology major who spent eight weeks studying cancer treatments at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, one of the largest hospitals in northern Germany and a leader in research and medical treatment.

During their time underwater, they will interview marine science experts and others for a weekly live online broadcast called “Classroom Under the Sea.” Among those who plan to scuba-dive down to the laboratory is 84-year-old Buzz Aldrin, the second astronaut to set foot on the moon.
