As part of this project, she was trained using Alvin, a deep submergence vehicle owned by the U.S. Navy and operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Mass. The famed vehicle, first deployed in 1964, has been used for a variety of research projects and special missions, including a 1986 exploration of the Titanic wreckage.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College students Barry Arrington, Tanner Boyd, Bo Dooley, Burt Burns and Evan Brackett will be headed to the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The GNTC team took home top honors in the TeamWorks competition at the State of Georgia SkillsUSA Competition held in Atlanta in March.
